The State of GNP

February 5th, 2009

I think now would be a good time to let all of you folks know what is going on with GNP, and what our plans are for 2009.  We'll start with the most important thing, the music.

Like everyone is aware, our third full-length album, III, is due out shortly (and already available via pre-order w/ DRM-free MP3s), but if things work out like we plan, this won't be the only album released by GNP in 2009.

In addition to III, we are planning to release a 5 to 7 song EP, titled Guitarded.   It will be all new recordings of some of our favorite songs, but played as a live band, with no keyboard, no v-drums and no backing tracks.  Imagine a Metal/Punk band swallowing GNP and the resulting ear-splitting it would produce.  We've already mapped out two of the songs, "Sunday, Sunday" & "Doin' Tha Butt", with Aaron on the mic, Brian on bass and Kenney on drums.  We will also have some guest guitarists on a few tracks, so this should be a fun little disc for those who aren't just into digital hardcore.

We're not stopping there, as we are also planning on releasing a remix LP, titled Re-MMIX, which will be remixes of songs from our first three albums, and maybe even some of the songs that were produced back in the really early days (2000-2004).  No idea how many songs will be on it in the end, or even which songs, but should be a crazy re-interpretation of classic GNP material.

Lastly, we're planning on another LP!  Currently untitled, we've already got drums and backing tracks written for about 15-20 songs.  This is still really rough, and will likely not come until the end of the year, but from what we have so far, it looks promising.

So that's FOUR albums in 2009!  On top of all of this, we plan to do some touring this summer.  Ultimately, we'd like to hit both coasts and a swing through the Great Lakes, but nothing is set in stone.  As always, we'll keep you all posted once we get shows booked.

Let's blow shit up in 2009!

Kenney & Aaron’s 5th Annual Birthday Bash

February 3rd, 2009

For those of you out of the loop, this Saturday (2/7), we'll be holding Kenney & Aaron's 5th Annual Birthday Bash at Club Underground.  Featuring Ripsnorter, Alcoholic Bomb Squad, Hondo and a special analog performance by GNP.  Yes, no keyboards, no V-Drums, no backing tracks, no video.  Aaron on vocals, Brian on bass and Kenney on drums.  We'll only be playing a couple songs, but they're GNP classics, so make sure to come on down, enjoy the other bands, buy us a few drinks and have a good time!

We should also mention that we finally have BLACK GNP T-Shirts available for purchase.  We'll offer them for sale at our birthday show this Saturday, but will probably make them available on-line after that.

Pre-Order III and a Reminder!

January 7th, 2009

We have now added a link to pre-order III, over there on the sidebar (via paypal).  We haven't received the physical CDs yet, but the music is done as done can be, so if you order now, we'll e-mail you a link to download the album (DRM-free MP3s, encoded at 320 kbps), in it's entirety, and when we get our hands on the physical CD, we'll send you a copy via snail mail.  You can't beat that!

Also, just as a reminder, Grain Belt is hosting a Premium Commercial Contest Viewing Party at the Ritz Theatre in NE Minneapolis TONIGHT.  Doors open at 6 PM, and it's open to the public on a first come basis.  We'll be down there, so if you want to see some great commercials and soak in the Premo, come on down.

CD Listening Party

December 2nd, 2008

We're ready for everyone to get their ears thrashed to the new GNP sounds!  On Tuesday December 16th (two weeks from today) we're going to have a III CD listening party at the Bulldog N.E. (401 E Hennepin Ave, MPLS).  We'll spin the disc a couple times starting around 8 PM and hopefully have CDs and swag to sell to everyone.  Additionally, there will be drink specials and the always delicious Bulldog N.E. food!

It's free to get in, so come on down, have a drink with us, and enjoy the sonic assault that is III.

P.S. We are currently working on setting up Kenney & Aaron's Birthday Bash V.  This year, the Bash will be held on Saturday February 7th @ Club Underground.  Once we have the bands booked, we'll share the details with all of you!

IT’S FUCKING DONE!!!

November 9th, 2008

ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

After over a year of writing, mixing, re-writing, re-mixing, recording, re-recording, mastering, re-re-mixing, re-re-recording and re-mastering, III is DONE!

We finished the mixing yesterday, and I'm listening to the final album, for the first time, start to finish.  Hopefully it will blow all y'alls mind like it is blowing mine.

Now, our goal will be to get the album printed, on-line and into iTunes, etc.  Printing will likely commence within the next week or so.

In the meantime, we've uploaded one of the new tracks, "The Three T's" to MySpace.  Unfortunately, MySpace kind of munges the audio, and the hifi is lost, but buy the CD, and you'll be able to enjoy it in it's full glory!

Here are a few screen shots from our upcoming submission into the Grain Belt Premium commercial contest.  We'll post the video soon!

Mix Down Down Low

October 17th, 2008

Well, we've started working on the final mixdown and mastering.  We're about a third of the way through the final mixing.  It will probably take another week or two to finish (since the actual mixdown sessions can be brutal on the ears, and it takes fresh ears to get a good mix), but it's only a matter of time at this point.

One side note, Speak Of The Devil has dropped off the Halloween show bill, and now playing will be American Gothic.

Wrap it up, B. WRAP IT UP!

September 29th, 2008

It's go-time fuckaz!

All of the recording for III is done, and now we begin the brief (but important) mix-down and mastering sessions.  As soon as we get this shit wrapped up, we'll have music up on CDBaby, iTunes, etc.

We still don't have a CD release show booked, but once we do, we'll let everyone know.

One last note: if you're planning on coming out to the GNP show on Halloween, we highly urge everyone to come in old school NES inspired costumes (granted, any video gaming dork costume would be acceptable as well).  We'll be rocking out as the cast of Super Mario Brothers 2, so we expect you all to represent!

One left and it’s on

September 22nd, 2008

Yes, it's true, we're down to one song to finish recording vocals on, and then we will begin our brief final mixing and mastering stage.  If things work as planned, we'll have the record done around the end of the month.  Then we have to get things printed and then they will be available for purchase!  They will likely be available on-line, prior to our official CD release show, through CDBaby and eventually iTunes and all of the iTunes-like clones.

Aside from the album being almost done, we've also got a ton of other stuff in the works.  First off we've completed the video shoot for our entry in this year's Grain Belt Premium Commercial Contest. The commercial was shot by camera guru Keith Langsdorf and was directed by Amanda Oeschle.  Once Keith is done editing the final cut of the commercial, we'll post it up here!

In addition to this, we just placed an order for new GNP T-Shirts!  The shirts feature the letters "GNP" in a shield, reminiscent of the old school NHL logo (not the fancy new one with the gradients and Web 2.0 look).  So sit tight as we will soon have some new GNP swag for sale at our shows.

Lastly, we are working with a few guys to produce some new and all-original GNP music videos.  We'll give y'all more information once it's available.
